ACM Banquet honors students

The Lamar Computer Science Department student chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) hosted it annual spring banquet at the Lamar library.  The guest speaker at the March 22 event was Dr. Linda Xie, Professor of Computer Science from University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  Dr. Xie gave a lecture on edge computing both during the afternoon on campus (shown above) and during the banquet.

Departmental awards were presented by Dr. Jane Liu.  Dr. Liu presented Ann Chapple with the Outstanding Freshman Award (shown above).  ACM awards were presented by ACM student president Madison Boudreaux with assistance from Diego Fernandez, vice president. 

Dr. Sujing Wang presented STAIRSTEP program awards including one to Madison Boudreaux in appreciation for her service and support of the STAIRSTEP program (shown in the image above).

Terry Morris and students, Derrick, Dajhaun, Nick, Tyler Comeaux, Skyler, Landon, from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School attended the Research Talk and the Banquet (shown in the image above).

First Year Success (FYS) student mentors, tutors, and volunteers were also recognized including  Madison Boudreaux, John Comeaux, Prateek Sharma, Judah Roden, Markus Schultz, Ann Chappell, Ethan Hall, Ethan Scruggs, Thomas King, Ronald Elkins, David Espinosa, Jamie McAndrew, Aaron Phillips, Aleythia Gutierrez, Diego Fernandez, Nick Astillo, Jesse Wright, Justin Dupuis, Justin Strong and Fei Gao  They each received an award of appreciation for their contributions to FYS, Cardinal Community, Tutoring, and College Readiness programs.
