The Built Culture of Southeast Texas with Tara A. Dudley
Date: Tuesday, Apr. 16, 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. Location: Dishman Art Museum (2nd floor gallery & auditorium)
Architectural scholar Tara Dudley will give the keynote at the 3rd Annual Greater Gulf Symposium. She will talk about the built culture of Southeast Texas. Dudley teaches at the University of Texas (Austin), and is the author of "Building Antebellum New Orleans," winner of the 2022 Summerlee Book Prize.

Center for Resiliency Disaster Backpack Distributions

Disaster backpack distributions for Smart Storm participants will happen every Wednesday from 1030 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Signature Center Suites located in the Cherry Engineering Building on Lamar's campus.

Spring 2024 Student Choreography Concert: Perspectives
Date: Friday, Apr. 19, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Location: University Theatre
The ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Department of Theatre and Dance student dance concert is the capstone project for the Spring 2024 Applied Choreography Class. Each semester, the students are tasked with creating new choreography and completing all components necessary to present it to an audience. This event is free and open to the public.

Boomtown Jazz & Wine Night
Date: Friday, Apr. 19, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Location: Spindletop Boomtown Museum
Join us on April 19 for Boomtown Jazz & Wine at Spindletop Boomtown Museum. Enjoy jazz in the saloon and outdoor lounging in Hamill Square. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for an evening of delicious food, drinks, and smooth tunes from 6 - 8 p.m. The general entry fee is $10, and LU students get in for free.

LU Dance Team Workshop for Kids

Does your kid love to dance? Join us at the LU Dance Team's Spring Show Clinic for Kids. This event is open to all dancers 1st grade to 8th grade. Dancers will receive a T-shirt and a free ticket to the LU Dance Team Annual Show, plus they'll perform at intermission on May 4. Visit lamar.edu/danceteam to register.

Making Space for Women with Jennifer Ross-Nazzal

Jennifer Ross-Nazzal “explores how careers for women at the Johnson Space Center have changed over the last fifty years as … fields once close to women … began to open.” She is the historian at Johnson Space Center and editor of the anthology Making Space for Women (2022). This event is free and open to all.

Touchdown Throwdown

Come out and celebrate the end of the semester with live music featuring Dende, who has more than 230,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. This event is free for students. Food and drinks will be available at Spindletop Boomtown Museum, and there will be door prizes throughout the event. Must be 18 or older to attend.

Apollo 13 at Jefferson Theatre

The Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast and the City of Beaumont will host a screening event featuring Apollo 13 at the Jefferson Theatre. Before the film, Dr. Jennifer Ross-Nazzal (Johnson Space Center historian) will speak on “Apollo 13 from Earth: Inside Mission Control and the Race to Bring the Crew Home.”

Free Septic System Clinic Coming to LU

This informal clinic offers homeowners with septic systems the opportunity gain basic understanding of its operation and maintenance. Learn about a grant program focused on understanding bacterial transport pathways in the Neches River Tidal watershed. Q&A will be offered with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Wasterwater Specialists.
