Gladys City welcomes horses for Yount-Lee Equestrian Day
Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown, on the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ campus, will celebrate Yount-Lee Equestrian Day on November 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a day dedicated to learning about different breeds of horses.
“The Younts became famous in both Texas and Kentucky for their American Saddlebred horses,” said museum director Troy Gray. “By welcoming a variety of owners and their horses to Gladys City, we have a unique opportunity to share another exciting chapter in the Spindletop story.”
Special guests include the return of the popular American Saddlebred horses from Bluebonnet Farm in Bellville, representatives of Tyrrell Park Stables, and Mark Johnson, an experienced farrier from Warren, who will be demonstrating horseshoe-making. Children will be able to take pictures on a horse (Bring your phone or camera!), make horse crafts and race in our stick horse race. Visitors will learn proper horse care and grooming as well as learn a little more about the Younts.
Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is located on Hwy. 69 at Jimmy Simmons Blvd. in Beaumont. Plenty of free parking is available. For more information, please call (409) 880-1750 or contact the museum at gladyscityinfo@gmail.com.
