College of Business extends AACSB accreditation

The College of Business at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 780 business schools in 53 countries and territories that maintain AACSB Accreditation. (For the most recent information, visit ).

“AACSB commends each institution for their exemplary work in holding the highest honor in business school accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “During this peer-review process schools must demonstrate alignment with AACSB’s global accreditation standards, as well as how they encourage engagement, innovation, and impact across the communities they serve.”

“ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ offers our students a superior business curriculum and a well-rounded core of arts and sciences in a College of Business that is committed to being an integral part of the business community,” said Henry Venta, dean of the college. “Our primary goal is to ensure that all of our programs continue to serve the needs of evolving and dynamic business marketplaces in Southeast Texas and around the world.”

“ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ’s College of Business is distinctive because of the many important advantages we offer, including a strong and experienced faculty, who are committed to teaching and research, and who care deeply about our students,” Venta said. “Full-time faculty teaches more than 80 percent of our sections, and we maintain a low student-faculty ratio; as a result, students learn in a highly interactive environment that provides close, personal attention.”

Both undergraduate and M.B.A. programs are offered in full-time, part-time and online options. The college’s Master of Science in Accounting program offers a fully integrated five-year experience leading to the B.B.A. and M.S.A. degrees.

“Additionally, we offer an impressive network of accomplished business alumni, whose involvement in the college provides our students with speakers, internships, career opportunities and valuable ongoing support throughout their professional lives,” Venta said.

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor, and peer review. During this multi-year continuous improvement review process, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
