Literary Press author Stan Crawford honored
A ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Literary Press author is among the honorees in Texas Institute of Letters annual awards for Texas’ literary works. “Resisting Gravity” by Stan Crawford was tapped an honoree for the Bob Bush Memorial Award for First Book of Poetry.
“ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Literary Press has ‘discovered’ another hard-working poet,” said Jim Sanderson, chair of the university’s Department of English and Modern Languages. “LULP authors always seem to show up in the TIL contests.”
Each year the Texas Institute of Letters awards more than $20,000 to recognize outstanding literary works in several categories. Eligibility for the awards requires that the author be born in Texas or have lived in Texas for at least two consecutive years at some time. A work whose subject matter substantially concerns Texas is also eligible.
Also honored in the category was “Recycle Explosions” by Chera Hammons, and Miriam Bird Greenberg’s “In the Volcano’s Mouth” was chosen for the Bob Bush Memorial Award for First Book of Poetry. These awards, along with the TIL’s other major literary prizes, will be presented at the 81st meeting of the organization in El Paso on April 7-8.
