Local Boy Scout Completes Eagle Scout Project at Gladys City

Armando Morales, 17, from Boy Scout Troop 232 in Nederland, chose Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum for his venue to do his Eagle Scout Project. Family, friends, and fellow scouts helped him redo the floor of the Eagle Awardderrick located in the middle of the museum. They worked three weekends taking the old floor off, sawing new boards and screwing them on.

“I’m happy my project will be seen and enjoyed by people all over the world as they visit the museum,” said Morales.

Director Troy Gray was happy to see the project being completed at the museum. “One of my favorite things was watching the older ones teach the scouts how to drill and hammer and get things straight,” Gray said.

Other jobs are available at the museum for scouts looking to complete their Eagle badge. Anyone interested can contact Director Troy Gray at 409-880-1750.

The Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum is located on the corner of Jimmy Simmons Boulevard and Cardinal Drive on the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ campus.
