Industry workshop on conflict resolution and negotiation
ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ’s Center for Advances in Port Management is offering an industry workshop on ‘Conflict Resolution and Negotiating Strategies’, Wed. May 22 from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship, Room 113.
“The next industry workshop in our continuing education program should have wide appeal, across public and private sectors,” said Erik Stromberg, executive director for the Center for Advances in Port Management. “Everyone, in every career field, can benefit from a better understanding of the source of conflict, strategies to resolve conflict, and ways to negotiate to achieve win-win results.”
The program will feature presentations by ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ’s College of Business faculty. Instructor Craig Escamilla, will discuss the “Psychology of Conflict.” Instructor Melissa Baldo will lead an interactive session on ‘'Negotiating Strategies and Skills.'’ Ms. Baldo will be joined by former LU M.B.A. director, Jeff Dyson, in a special session on arbitration.
The one-day instructional event will also provide practical, real-world examples for consideration and learning. Jefferson County Dispute Resolution Center’s Executive Director, Kara Hawthorn will provide several case studies for exploration.
“Our excellent and experienced speakers will address both theory and practice, exploring various approaches to conflict resolution and negotiation strategies,” said Stromberg. “The case studies will explore specific situations, illustrating best practices and lessons learned.”
The workshop is free and open to the public. Those planning to attend must register in advance.
