LU’s online doctoral program ranks top in the nation

Study.com ranks ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ’s online Ed.D. in educational leadership program 18 out of 50 schools in the nation.

“Although we are a regional university, our doctoral program is global,” said Dr. Brett C. Welch, director of the Center for Doctoral Studies in Educational Leadership. “The ranking – and publicity that coincides with it – continues our goal of recruiting high quality educators from all around the world.”

The program, which is offered fully online with a concentration in global education, exceeded Study.com’s Study Recognizedstandard of accessibility, affordability and quality of education.

“In the world of online learning, ‘learning’ does not take place without seamless accessibility,” said Dr. Welch, also adding that it is possibly the number one objective of the program.

Other criteria such as ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ’s student retention number, tuition costs and graduation rate also contributed to the high ranking.

Resources offered to the program’s students are further distinguishing, including the extensive library research databases, the Handshake Online Job Database for employment opportunities and InterviewStream for students who want to practice their interviewing skills.

“By producing high quality instruction and research, we hope to continue adding credibility to the program,” said Dr. Welch.

The Educational Leadership program is designed to equip future practitioners with the knowledge, skills and experiences they will need to be successful, providing a quality academic experience.

“We believe our program is unique. While there are other programs that offer high quality terminal degrees in an online environment, we feel that we provide a level of personalized instruction,” said Dr. Welch. “This allows our students to leave our program with not only the Ed.D., but with contacts, colleagues and friends as they continue to move ahead in their profession.”
