Two at LU tapped for ‘40 Under 40’ professional recognition

ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ is proud to announce that the assistant director of Graduate Recruitment, Stephanie Broussard and Chief of Police Hector Flores have been selected as “40 Under 40” award recipients.

Beaumont Enterprise select the best and brightest young professionals under the age of 40 annually. Selections are made based on academic achievements, professional success and community involvement.

Broussard, who has served ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ for one year, has more than a decade of established expertise in higher education, social services and community outreach.  Prior to coming to work at LU, Broussard was the academic advisor and scholarship coordinator at Lamar State College- Port Arthur. She is a constituent of Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society for Counseling Students, Prairie View A&M University National Alumni Association, National Academic Advisement Association, Texas Academic Advisement Network and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.  She has also completed multiple hours of community service.

Flores is a veteran of the Marine Corps, where he earned a Combat Action Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal and various other awards.  Flores joined the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Police Department in 2014 and currently serves as the chief of police. He is responsible for establishing the Incident Command System at LU. He is a member of the American Society for Public Administration, Texas Police Chiefs’ Association, LIT Regional Police Academy Advisory Board and Greater South Park Neighborhoods Partnership Committee.  Flores also is involved in civic works, including the Boy Scouts of America. 

There will be a celebration of the nominees Nov. 5, 2019, at the Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont.  “The Big Reveal” will showcase Broussard and Flores, along with the other honorees. Additionally, the recipients will be featured in the Beaumont Enterprise.
