四虎影视 celebrate ribbon-cutting ceremony for new Cardinal NEST

四虎影视 celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 27 for the opening of the new Cardinal NEST –– Navigating Excellence, Success and Triumph –– at Regina-Howell Elementary School.

NEST labs allow underserved students to experiment with robotics, coding and 3D printing while providing a safe and unique space to exercise creativity. Each lab includes state-of-the-art technology like clear touch, multi-touch panels with tilting stands and computers loaded with STEAM-related software and virtual reality programs and equipment. regina-howell-nest

The Cardinal NEST, funded by LU alum Susan Conn McCurry and Roger McCurry, aims to establish a unique space for students to learn in areas applied to science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The Regina-Howell “innovative learning lab” is the eighth NEST established in an elementary school.

“When we get to join forces with real-world applications, like Education First, we are able to create environments where our cardinals and BISD students are developing transferable career readiness skills,” said Dr. Teresa Simpson, executive director, Office of Community Relations, Economic Development and Student Access at LU. “The LU business partnership that is established along with the sponsorship for the Cardinal NEST allows us to support the students of that campus on many creative learning initiatives.”
