The Psychology Association of Lamar Students (PALS) is open to all who have an interest in psychology and joining an on-campus organization. Through the joint efforts of PALS members and their faculty advisors, members have opportunities to get involved on-campus.
Also involved in community service, PALS provides opportunities to participate in special projects to assist organizations PALS provides members with an introduction to the professional world of psychology through faculty-sponsored workshops and guest lectures. Social events provide members with a fun, safe environment in which to meet and make friends with like-minded individuals who share their interest in the field of psychology.
Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology. Our local chapter is one of approximately 1,250 Psi Chi chapters located around the globe. We typically review membership applications during the Fall semester and induct new members in the Spring semester. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in psychology, and who meet the minimum qualifications. As an honor society, Psi Chi promotes and recognizes student scholarship and academic excellence. Members interested inconducting research are encouraged to explore the research grant funding opportunities available through the international Psi Chi office. Membership provides you with valuable opportunities to develop one-on-one relationships with professors, involve you in research projects and write meaningful letters of recommendation. Service is an important component of the Psi Chi experience. Providing service to community members is a step in the right direction. Psi Chi often teams up with PALS to perform volunteer communitv outreach proiects.
